4 out of 5 stars Invaluable   October 5, 2007
I'm currently on a business trip in Ulaanbaatar, whcih I have thoroughlky enjoyed BTW. I'm glad I took this book with me as it has proved pretty invaluable since I got here. Recommended

3 out of 5 stars Not bad.   January 11, 2002

I used this prior to my third trip to Mongolia;
I'm heading again this summer and it is certainly
very much of use. There's scope for
more detail in some areas though. Travelling to
Mongolia isn't easy to plan as information isn't
as plentiful as elsewhere so this is a good start.

3 out of 5 stars The end of the world? .... maybe not   December 10, 2000

Last edited in 1997, I found the contents of the book slightly outdated when I went to Mongolia this summer - for example the train time schedules were not as accurate as I hoped it would be. Apart from that the book gives a good introduction to the history and culture of Mongolia, and it gives a good idea of what you should expect. One piece of advice though - if you're seriously considering travelling in Mongolia but don't speak Mongolian at all, the Mongolian Phrasebook is a must.
