A great guide & read June 27, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I found this little book to be, not only a great guide to Tokyo (Unlike the Lonely Planet equivelent) but a really interesting and well researched read. While the title suggests that this is a book only an 'Otaku' would enjoy, it actually covers much more than just anime. The author brings in many aspects of Tokyo and Japanese culture & pop culture, from Gameing arcades to the Yakuza and Soap Land in between! I was so impressed with it that I sent a copy to the 'Japan Journeys' tour operator who arranged my 'Manga Tour' of Tokyo (which was great!) & he liked this book too. Although the author's style can occasionally get a little waffely - If you are considering a trip to Tokyo or are just interested in the City or Japanese Pop Culture, this book is a must and really great read.
