5 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth it!   May 10, 2007

During three days at the beginning of May, my girlfriend and I visited Copenhagen. This was the first time that either of us had been to this city. What a place! It was extremely relaxed and the people were very friendly. It is true what they say, in that it is rather expensive. At the time of our travel there was approximately 10 Danish Kroner to the pound. This made it relatively easy to work out prices.

The guide book was invaluable, we used it to travel from the airport to Copenhagen Central station and to travel out of the city on the train to Roskilde, home of the Viking Ship Museum. The maps inside were spot on and finding your way around was easy. Nyhavn is visibly more expensive than surrounding areas. E.g One bar charged 5 Kroner for a beer. I have to admit though, that didn't stop us on our first night. Also the price of entering the world famous Tivoli Gardens was 75 Kroner (approx 7.50). This was so we could see the rock show that is put on every friday at 10pm.

The information regarding markets on Saturdays was excellent. We spent an enjoyable morning traipsing around the antique market on Gammel strand. We parted with a few kroner and came away with some small but lovely pieces. There were certain stalls that you could barter on but I think on the whole it wasn't generally done.

However, expensive or not the trip was definitely worth every penny. I heartily recommend that you use this book if you are travelling to Copenhagen.
