This guide will make it simple for you to choose September 25, 2008 With this little book, every tourist will be able to make individual choices quickly and accurately. Text and pictures perfectly balanced, clear layout and descriptions - it leaves little to be desired. The only disadvantage of my holiday was that I did not have enough time to visit all the great places I had planned to see, but the book itself has no faults.
Informative! June 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book just before visiting Paris in April. It was very informative, containing just the right amount of information. It is a great size as it is light enough and small enough so you don't mind carrying it around with you (some of guides I have bought in the past have been so heavy!) My group stuck to the top ten things to see as we were only there for a couple of days. It was ideal! It has a few maps and underground map too which were very helpful.
Very Useful January 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This guidebook is ideal if you are just going to Paris for a couple of days. There is plenty of information about numerous attractions. We actually found our hotel in this book and it was as good if not better than described. A must have!
Indispensable!! April 19, 2005 38 out of 39 found this review helpful
Absolutely brilliant little book. We've just spent 5 days in Paris and this book was totally indispensable. It has detailed chapters on each part of the city, along with lists of essential places to visit, eat, shop etc, and also includes detailed maps to help get you about. This book is small enough to carry around with you all the time, and proved so invaluable that I've just bought the Top Ten guide to Venice by the same people, in anticipation of our next trip! I reccommend this book 100% to anyone planning on visiting Paris.
Best for a short trip July 20, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like all other books in the DK series, this guide is well-illustrated. Who has time to read pages and pages of opinions about Parisians and history, when you're in a city to have fun for only a short break? This book is ideally-suited for just those people. Those nipping in and out within 3-4 days. The Top 10 restaurants, tourist attractions, places to live, etc are outlined clearly. The book still manages to be rich enough in detail to find out which cafes Picasso and Dali hung out in, where Sartre lived, what's special about the engineering behind the Eiffel Tower, etc. It could've been a bit more informative on travelling within Paris (e.g. L'Open Tour bus, the Metro, etc.). But I guess the publishers want to keep it thin. All in all a good guide.
