Small size...big impact! October 9, 2008 I have to say I was shocked when I first saw the video quality on this little device - it really is crystal clear. There are other, cheaper, MP4 players on the market with a bigger screen but none have the quality this has.
The battery life is very good allowing me to watch several 2 hour long films without having to charge - something you'll be grateful for on a long-haul flight. The video format has to be specifically MP4 but its easy to find programs to convert DVD's and such into this format so its not a problem.
Aside from video, the sound and music is brilliant both with the supplied in-ear headphones or with your own choice (a good set will bring out the best it can offer). Menus are easily navigated and playlists, albums, songs etc can be sync'ed on Windows Media Player.
Build quality is range-topping and it looks the part as well. While it doesn't have radio or the features of some of its expensive cousins (iPod touch etc)...it is pure functionality at its very best.
To sum up my experience - the video quality is crazy. I bought the 4gb model but I wish I spent a little more and got the bigger size as I had no idea how much I would be using the video player. In my top ten Best Purchases Ever list.
first mp3 player October 8, 2008 First time Ive had an mp3 player. Ive had this sony mp3 player a few days. Put some music on it easily using drag and drop in windows. Sound quality is fantastic, amazing you can get such sound out of such a small box, far better than an ipod i heard in a shop which to me sounded very flat. Used drag and drop for photos no problem and the screen is very clear for such a small size it can display them very clearly - you can orientate them landscape or portrait. After watching the demo of spiderman on it Id like to find a video converter to pud dvd's on it and video off the pc. Anyone got any advice as to which converter to use would be great. If sony provided more help with the video conversion issue this player would get 5 stars easy.
If your thinking of buying an iPod, don't. Buy this instead. September 29, 2008 The NWZ A810 has to be the perfect mp3 player. Full stop.
Especially if you use DRM protected WMAs such as Napster.
Its light, its sturdy, and it really couldn't be any easier to use.
Its very much compatible with WMP which makes it very easy to drag and drop songs and you can use windows explorer to drag and drop pictures and video, however, i personally dont use it for watching videos.
The screen is very clear and large enough for you to see what you are doing.
The sound quality is excellent and the bundled headphones are pretty good too but i would advise getting your self an extra pair.
battery life is suberb, something like 30 hours and it only takes 3 hours to fully charge. you can do this via your computer USB or by getting yourself a wall plug USB adapter which are pretty cheap.
my only woe is the absence of gapless playback between songs, however the gap is under a second.
for anyone looking for that perfect MP3 player but not wanting to beak the bank, heres your answer. Forget the iPod, it only plays MP3s and DRM protected iTunes format and the battery is rubbish. People only get the ipod just as a fashion item.
This is a brilliant little device and i highly recommend it.
I've had mine for a year now and it works as well and lasts as long as the day i got it.
I can't recommend this enough! September 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was debating for ages whether to get this because I hate spending money unless I know I'm getting quality. Eventually the sheer number of positive reviews and the bargain price swayed me and I splashed the cash.
It arrived promptly and my word! The best purchase I've made in a long time, it's unbelievably simple to load music tracks onto it. I use Winamp and all that needs to be done is right click on the track and then "Send to: WALKMAN" That's it! I loaded up every track I wanted and I'd barely used a quarter of the player's memory!
The headphones provided are excellent and the sound is amazing. I'd recommend adding the 'screen protector' to the purchase because I've read a few reviews from people who didn't get it and they've found the screen cracks easily. It's only an extra tenner and saves any worry or hassle.
I should note that I'm recommending this despite the fact I'm not particularly fussed about the video side of things. All I cared about was music and it more than delivers on that front. The Spider-Man 3 trailer looks pretty sweet on it though!
If anyone is unsure as to whether to buy this, hopefully you'll read this review along with the countless other positive ones and you'll take the plunge.
You won't regret it!
Amazing September 23, 2008 The perfect piece of equiptment small light and perfectly easy to use i'd reccomend it to anyone the best sony item in the world.
