Classic Coronation Street 1983 February 22, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well Classic it certainly is. Coronation Street provides you a fantastic 4 episodes on the video presented by a much younger Johney Briggs (Mike Baldwin). Speaking of Mike he, Dreary Deirdre and Ken are the focus in the first episode featuring the ever favorite love triangle. Fantastic acting on William Roache's behalf, quite good from Johny Briggs and a load of rubbish from Anne Kirkbride and and her jumpy vains. Episode 2- One of the most funniest episodes of Coronation Street I have EVER seen. The three main stars are Betty Driver (Betty Turpin/Williams) Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch/Gilroy) and Fred Feast (Fred Gee) all were great, they all provided good quality comedy acting. The end scene was great when Bet and Betty went for a plunge into the cold depth of the lake but funny. Episode 3- The Ogden's 40th Aniversary. Well what an episode we finally but the traumas behind us and get on with some happy episodes like 2. 3 was meant to be but the end some tragic news was broken. Poor old Rita, Len was killed instantly in a car crash. More to this in episode 4...................... Episode 4- Rita's Trauma- Barbara Knox (Rita Fairclough/Sullivan) was great in this episode. She had some fantastic scenes that most of the other actors could never have managed in 1 million years such as (Anne Kirkbride, Eileen Derbyshire and Betty Driver) But still the best ep on the tape with a small comedy performance in the factory from Vera and Ivy. It is great to see legendry actors like Pat Phoinex, Doris Speed, Barbara Knox, William Roache and Anne Kirkbride at their best or worse in Anne Kirkbride's case.
Superb Coronation Street Classic Episodes August 1, 2002 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Quality Corrie nostalgia. This video has some superb episodes from the Streets history. The first is the Ken/Deidre/Mike triangle and is excellent, the drama is still real now even after all these years, will she leave him and go with Mike or stay with Ken, although we now the answers now, this episode is superb. Second episode is 'Car in the lake' Fred takes Bet and Betty to the countryside for a picnic in Mrs Walkers Rover, the handbrake is faulty. At the very end of the episode Bet and Betty get back in the car, Fred slams the boot shut and the car runs down the hill and into the lake with the barmaids inside, dissapointingly the episode finishes and doesn't include Fred trying to rescue them from the car. The Ogdens 40th wedding anniversary is great, some good interactions with characters long gone, the Oggies, Elsie Tanner, Suzie Birchall and finishes with the police arriving to tell Rita that Len has been killed in a car crash. The next episode follows on from this with the aftermath of Lens death. This video really is Coronation Street in it's heyday!
