Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Warner Bros have produced another wonderful animated feature   December 16, 2000
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

It is a wonderful animated feature fleshing out the origin and life of the premier DC comics character in a fresh new way. It's accessible to both children and adults but in the old fashioned film serial manner, leaves the viewer with a tantalising question about what will happen next.

The style of the animation is bold giving the viewer a sense of the key character's power but unlike the old 60/70's Hanna Barbera Superman cartoons you are aware that each character, even the minor characters are given individual personalities in both their drawing and their direction.

The actors who provide the voices are directed well avoiding the one dimensional "laugh like a madman" villain or "I've just learned to string words together" hero.

The main point is that you can enjoy the video from the all action point of view or simply from the pleasure of noting the subtle but clever techniques of the director.

5 out of 5 stars The adventure continues (and does a pretty good job)   November 1, 2000
This is the most recent cartoon incarnation of the Man of Steel, and it is the best to date. This pilot episode manages to cover the well known ground of Superman's arrival on Earth while making it seem fresh, and it sets up the characters as people you want to get to know. The animation style goes for dynamic rather than realistic, but the characters still seem 'live' and believable. Warner Bros have done an excellent job on this, and there is a reason behind this animated series lasting for longer than any live action version - it's good.
