Amazon.co.uk Review Billed as an updating and retelling of Irish folk legend, Lord of the Dance is less Erin Go Bragh than Hooray for Hollywood. Michael Flatley, lately of Riverdance, gives us the old razzle-dazzle, fashioning a Celtic-influenced spectacular that wanders faraway from its Riverdance roots. The light-show presentation is closer kin to another contemporary Irish musical group, U2. Flatley himself has gone designer chic. With close-cropped haircut, earring, buffed abs,and tight black pants he bears more than a passing resemblance to Bono. But you have to hand it to the guy--he works hard for the money, as does his attractive corps. The one maddening aspect of this glitzy, entertaining 90-minute festival is the overzealous editing. No image remains on screen for more than a few seconds. Neither Flatley nor his talented troupe deserves to have such craftsmanship sliced and diced like an MTV music video. --Richard Natale

Amazing Story July 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like a lot of people, I only know about Michael Flatley as the person who helped launch RiverDance. Other than that, I didn't know too much about the man himself and the amazing dedication and strength he possessed.
His story is a potential Hollywood blockbuster film. What this man has achieved in a short space of time at his time of life is nothing short of incredible. It's a story of a man with a dream that jumped over every barrier that was put in front of him. His dedication to his dream seems almost superhuman combined with a talent to make Irish dance sexy and exciting.
He comes across as a self assured man with focus, determination, grit and and with a 'can do' belief. He's funny, talented, popular with the women, down to earth and everyone's friend. Typical Irishman, I would say! A story well worth reading.......very inspiring!!

BRILLIANT ENTERTAINING READ April 15, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
FANTASTIC READ - a must buy for all Lord of the Dance/Michael Flatley fans.
This is a real TELL ALL biography with some great photographs. I did not expect Michael Flatley to be so open about his life, especially his love life! He admits to his womanising through the years, speaks about the loves of his life and his contentment with married life to date.
He tells the whole story of how dancing ran in his family, his early competition wins in America and later in Ireland and finally the success of RIVERDANCE. He then describes his shock at being sacked from Riverdance before an opening night and how he recovered and came up with the idea for Lord of the Dance.
Michael Flatley comes over a very driven and forward thinking man, he obviously is well liked by his family, friends and fellow dancers. He is intensely loyal to all he knows.
Having seem Michael in Manchester in Celtic Tiger, it was a pleasure to see that Michael has not lost any of his charisma and charm. He will only go from strength to strength with all his devoted fans and especially with a lovely wife and child behind him.
RECOMMENDED
Impressive March 3, 2007 Starts off with a powerful scene, has some good scenes throughout and finishes with one of the most impressive scenes there is. Irish dance and music taken to the limit. Flatley definitely has more presence than his successors.
