Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Despite the original movies' protagonist (Julian Sands) being absent, Warlock III still has a creepy central figure. This is college student Kris (Ashley Laurence) who makes one ludicrously bad decision after another. She inherits a spooky house from the family she never knew. She goes there alone. She invites her friends. Blah blah blah. Even for a direct-to-video movie, the feeling of counting off cliches is overwhelming. There's the stop-start following camera, the light switch not working, dropping the keys at the door, thunder and lightning, tap dripping blood, car not starting, a power outage and thumping noises in the night. All this is in the first 20 minutes incidentally. By the time the Warlock (Bruce Payne) is properly introduced, the film's remaining plot is hardly worth mentioning. You know it already. The kids get picked off one by one. There's a final fight; a double-whammy surprise; then a cod-spiritual feel-good finale. On the plus side there's some well-executed make-up and, better still, it's a reminder of just how great the original was.

On the DVD: the film. In 4:3. In stereo. --Paul Tonks

1 out of 5 stars Saw is and fell asleep!   December 19, 2007
Payne has done some good efforts he has appeared in Tales from the crypt, NEcronomicon and many more. Stars alongside Hellraiser star Ashley Laurence and without the guy who made the warlock what he was, im sorry but if you want a performance that will top Julian Sands here you wont find it. I saw this expecting more of Ashley Laurence but her performance was as crap as the story and acting and really everything else in this movie. Fans of Warlock wont like this or even enjoy the cheese as there isnt any, thats right not even cheese, cheese is the thing that occurs when something isnt very good like the friday sequels or Army of Darkness we like them coz they crap and cheesey but Warlock 3 has none.

There's something very wrong here, not only is Julian Sands missing from the title role but so is the fun and enjoyment of the first two films. The first Warlock movie had it's sense of humour and creepy atmosphere, while Warlock 2 didn't take itself too seriously and had loads of over-the-top gore. Warlock 3 has none of these things and unfortunatly reverts to the tried and tested kids in peril while staying in a creepy mansion formula. Why Warlock 3 feels it needs to add to this horror sub-genre I don't really know because it certainly isn't adding anything new to it. There is very little imagination in the way the Warlock goes about offing the teen students and when he has killed somebody you wish he hadn't because it looked so bad due to basic special effects. On the plus side Bruce Payne makes for a decent Warlock, he's just been lumbered with a terrible and predictable script that holds no surprises for the viewer to enjoy. At the end of the day Warlock 3 is a fine example of a film series going one sequel too far and should be avoided if you have any fond memories of Warlock 1 or 2.
