Stag night from hell ! January 4, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Heaven help anyone getting married whose mates take an interest in this potty film ! It certainly should have a do not try this at home tag . What happens to Martin Clunes is pretty cruel - but the cast rescue it from being just Men Behaving Badly The Movie as does the scripting . One does wonder why the Carry On's could not have thought up this idea in the late 1970's . It would have made a great adult movie style challenge to the Confessions Films . A typically British film which like Four Weddings & a Funeral , Love Actually , Calander Girls & The Full Monty prove that there is still a market for such home grown movies . Nice to see another British success story at the box office - those finance people who told Peter Rogers that Carry On Again Nurse would not succeed as it was ' too British ' really lacked judgement .....
Excellent, watched it about 6 times now! September 21, 2003 3 out of 7 found this review helpful

cream of funny british films May 15, 2002 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
back in the day when british films were not big hitters like today this film still had it if released today it would surely be a big hit. from the mind of the man who was still doing men behaving badly at the time martin clunes. it has some very funny moments and a nice ending.great story line that was i think very classic can you imagine waking on the orkney islands after a stag party?, you'll never trust your mates again after watching this. warned you bye bye!
I love this film! May 28, 2001 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
When I first started watching this I was a little bit sceptical but the fact that it had Martin Clunes in and directing it made me perceiver, and I'm glad I did! If you are looking for a Men Behaving Badly type film then this isn't for you. Neil (Clunes) is on his stag night when the best man drugs him and drops him on a Scottish Island, population 1, with no money or clothes and the film follows his struggle to get to London for his wedding. From the backstabbing best man, the psychotic mother-in-law to be and the overly dedicated detective to the Welsh salesman and strange mortician, the characters are all full of life and are all extremely funny in their own way. What I liked most about this was the numerous twists along the way, none of which you expect and all are completely bizarre. The acting is superb and numerous familiar faces pop up along the way and the humour is always there. This is an excellent film that will make you laugh but also feel sympathetic for Neil, after all, all he wants is to get to the church on time!
