Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Smart casting and sensible plotting make Behind Enemy Lines an above-average military thriller. Perfectly timed to bolster US patriotism, the film is partly set (during a hypothetical "day after tomorrow") on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, which was on alert status in the Persian Gulf when this film was released theatrically in the States. Proving his versatility as an unconventional movie star, Owen Wilson plays a navy navigator who is shot down over Bosnia during a reconnaissance mission. Pursued by rebel Serbian forces, Wilson must fight for survival while his commanding officer (Gene Hackman) plots a daredevil rescue.

After a successful career in TV commercials, Irish director John Moore makes a promising feature debut on Slovakian locations, borrowing a few techniques from Saving Private Ryan while adding impressive flourishes of his own. The gung-ho ending's a foregone conclusion, but it works like a charm after the movie's exciting game of cat and mouse.--Jeff Shannon

Absolute rubbish! There are very very few films that I won't watch until the end but this is abysmal. Acting awful, story unbelieveable. Makes Top Gun look gritty and credible. Move right along, nothing to see here...

This movie reminded me of news on the then Czechoslovakian television in the Soviet era. Everything great, all people friends and honestetc... This truly heroic bravery of the American soldiers cannnot leave you in doubt how honest, good, hard-working these guys are. NO one disputes the mass graves but I have yet to see a more stupid film about brave and good American soldiers... I could not comprehend some of the scenes, for instance a sniper trying to shoot the American soldier and then , all of a sudden, the American soldiers finds himself in a forest without me being able to understand how he escaped... Nevermind, long live the brave American soldier...

5 out of 5 stars Marvellous   April 1, 2008

This film is absolutely brilliant.
The whole idea of it works well. Chris Burnett is alone when fighting bad soldiers shoot down his aircraft because he and his friend Stackhouse were taking pictures of all their illegal activity.

I would definitely recommend this film to anyone. The actors Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson deliver great performances from beginning to the end.

4 out of 5 stars Good film with a good cast   March 13, 2007

Owen Wilson plays an American Figther plane that is tasked to take photos of the demilaterised zone due in no small part to Wilsons set peice with his commander played by Gene Hackman. When Wilsons plane is shot down the film really kicks off as he evades his pursuers after his navigator is executed!
Some outstanding bits of film (the minefield scene), but it is a lighter version of Blackhawk Down with a bit more comedy and more varied scenery!
A great film with a few shady bits.
