| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Strangler's Wood is a gruesomely enjoyable entry in the darkly witty Midsomer Murders series. Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby is on the case again, this time in pursuit of a serial murderer who has apparently resurfaced after nearly a decade of quiet. The story is a thoroughly absorbing one, full of nasty crawling secrets that come out when Barnaby begins poking below the village's surface, and the solution is genuinely satisfying. As in other programmes in the series, Strangler's Wood also pays realistic attention to the way Barnaby's job affects his home life, making his tenacity at pursuing a case exasperating without getting melodramatic. Fans of Daniel Casey's Sergeant Troy will be pleased to see him prominently featured in the episode as well. This is a terrific, stand-alone chapter in an excellent series. --Ali Davis

Daniel Casey, as gorgeous as ever! April 23, 2003 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Ok, so one of the reasons why I love Midsummer Murders so much is due to the fact that Daniel Casey is in it! Seriously, it's one of the best shows on ITV these days. Pretty, chocolate-box villages, gruesome murders, downright odd locals and a cracking' theme tune make this un-missable. John Nettles is superb as easy going Tom Barnaby, while Daniel Casey is the perfect sidekick as Sgt Troy. You can't keep any secrets if you live in a village! Watch your backs, there's some strange happenings at the cricket pavilion...and don't walk down that leafy lane!!!
