 Good compilation July 23, 2008
If you want a jack johnson album don't buy this...but if you want a mixture of Jack with some similar stuff then this album is spot on. As soundtracks go this is one of my favourites as it isn't samey like most - just feels like a great compilation.

yes ok, so it may be advertised as a Jack Johnson album, but specifically, this is an album put together to compliment a film MADE by JJ, about SURFING. this is the reason why the songs were chosen, not to churn out yet more happy-go-smiley-drive-around-beaches-because-everything's-always-ok.
yes, those songs are great, but there's other things to have on a soundtrack for the different moods throughout the film. Unfortunately for many, they aren't the stereotypical, money-earning songs that the majority of the public are apparently gagging for, but give the man some artistic credibility for not selling out and filling albums such as this and thicker than water with random tunes lifted from his many studio albums.

If you are only interested in listening to music by Jack Johnson don't bother with this cd.
This cd is advertised by Amazon as an album which has an appearance by Jack Johnson on every track. This is simply not true; Jack Johnson appears on only two tracks. The rest of the cd contains music by other artists that, while being reasonably pleasant to listen to was not the reason I purchased the cd.

Although this is a soundtrack it plays like a record you should own. Jack only plays a couple of tunes all to his lonesome, but that is just a formality when you are listening to weeping willow tree and the september sessions band.
Its so warm and lovely. its a must for all jack johnson fans and ben harper fans alike. i haven't seen the film yet but this album made me want to surf.
basically you have to buy this album.
