One of the two great sci-fi sagas (with of course Star Wars) ever. Alien has the tension of a stalking killer film, Aliens has as much action as any Schwartzenegger movie, Alien 3 gives you the opportunity to really begin to like the potential victims and Alien Resurrection rounds it all off with all the traits of a blockbuster flick. If you've not seen them then you've not seen sci-fi or horror!
