5 out of 5 stars Don't let the daft title put you off.   October 27, 2007

The Man With One Red Shoe is a 1985 comedy film directed by Stan Dragoti. It's a remake of a 1972 French film Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire starring Pierre Richard and Mireille Darc.

Yes I do appreciate its a really daft title but don't let that put you off.

It really is a very enjoyable dvd and is a Government Conspiracy film .

Although this was made over twenty years ago it really has not dated.

When you consider the bargain basement price its well worth it

for me as a realtively young viewer who has not seen many films from the 80's. So this film was a bit of a classic. A very young tom hanks and more importantly a very young claudia schiffer. with some tame action, comedy and what seems like a simple plot, this film captures the viewer from scene 1 until the finale. do not be put off by the title of the film as it actually has very little to do with it. basically the government think that tom hanks is a national spy and are set the task to spy on him and take him down. tom, who is actually more like the innocent 18 year old falls instantly in love with federal agent claudia, as she runs around in very skimpy shorts and sexy outfits. the plot turns out to be a bit more complicated than it first seemed and some very clever screen play follows. this film is for those of you who enjoy a film and do not notice how many mistakes the director made or how good the lighting is on the chair at the back of the room.

5 out of 5 stars Carrie Fisher really swings   February 10, 2003

Dabney Coleman is sort of a renegade CIA inside the CIA he has to eliminate those that know. Through a series of misdirections he is convinced that Richard (Tom Hanks) is the informant that knows his secret. Naturally Tom is innocent. Now watch as Richard unknowingly brushes with death several times. Will this ever get cleared up and what happens to the different parties in this cat and mouse game.

This is one of Tom Hanks's best. It may get lost in the total of his movies. However it is a must see. I did not see the French movie "The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe" this is supposed to be a remake of, yet given the cast and their enthusiasm in the movie it could only be an improvement. It was interesting that Richard (Tom Hanks) and Morris (James Belushi) used bicycles for transportation. Many parts of the film would not have worked if they were in automobiles or on foot.

I guess the moral of this story is that you have to watch your feet.

4 out of 5 stars To be enjoyed on any given bit of time off   January 12, 2002

This is Tom Hanks getting into his role so you can't help but enjoy his character. He creates a mood that makes you want to follow him in the plot - from your armchair, in an undemanding fashion.
