Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Arguably the finest movie of its kind, Terminator 2: Judgment Day captured Arnold Schwarzenegger at the very apex of his Hollywood celebrity and James Cameron at the peak of his perfectionist directorial powers. Nothing the star did subsequently measured up to his iconic performance here, spouting legendary catchphrases and wielding weaponry with unparalleled cool; and while the director had an even bigger hit with the bloated and sentimental Titanic, few followers of his career would deny that Cameron's true forte has always been sci-fi action. With an incomparably bigger budget than its 1984 precursor, T2 essentially reworks the original scenario with envelope-stretching special effects and simply more, more, more of everything. Yet, for all its scale, T2 remains at heart a classic sci-fi tale: robots running amok, time travel paradoxes and dystopian future worlds are recurrent genre themes, which are here simply revitalised by Cameron's glorious celebration of the mechanistic. From the V-twin roar of a Harley Fat Boy to the metal-crunching Steel Mill finale, the director's fascination with machines is this movie's strongest motif: it's no coincidence that the character with whom the audience identifies most strongly is a robot. Now that impressive but unengaging CGI effects have come to over-dominate sci-fi movies (think of The Phantom Menace), T2's pivotal blending of extraordinary live-action stuntwork and FX looks more and more like it will never be equalled.

On the DVD: Oh, if only every DVD could be like this. Here is a DVD package worthy of this monumental movie, with so many extra features the viewer will spend hours simply trying to find them all (the animated menus alone are worth watching over and over again.) On the second disc there are three extensive documentaries (all good, all relatively straightforward), but things get more complicated as you burrow down through the menu layers of Cyberdyne Systems into the "Data Hub": the entire screenplay, storyboards, text features, dozens and dozens of video clips, deleted scenes, and thousands of stills.

The movie disc itself will cause even hardened surround-sound enthusiasts to gasp with joy as these explosive soundscapes come alive in Dolby 5.1 or DTS (hear that Harley roar!), while the anamorphic widescreen picture of the original theatrical 2.35:1 ratio is jaw-droppingly impressive. The exhaustive commentary is a patchwork of interviews with various key cast and crew members. The only disappointment here is that, unlike the almost identical Region 1 version, this Region 2 package does not include the DVD-ROM features nor the option to play the original theatrical release and the hidden "Ultimate Edition"--the only version here is the Director's Cut Special Edition, although the few extra scenes that make up the "Ultimate" edit can still be found in the "Data Core" section of the second disc. --Mark Walker

5 out of 5 stars in many ways THE DEFINATIVE SEQUEL and in soe ways SUPERIOR TO THE FIRST!   July 22, 2008
stunning,just plain stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Cameron did it with ALIENS(also recommended)and now he has done it with his own successful franchise....hes only gone and made a movie sequel that is in many ways matched(if not)improved on the previous film(which nowadays is impossible).
there are amazing stunts and dialogue...its very fast paced and astounding.
everyone must see this film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Terminator 2 - No 12 - All Time List 2008   May 14, 2008
An all time favourite - one of the first movies I can remember watching and some fifteen years later I still love it, its special effects stand up even today.
The Terminator (Arnie) arrives back on Earth 15 years after the first mission with a different aim than in the original Terminator - this time he is to protect John Connor and his Mother, Sarah Connor, rather than tracking Sarah to kill an unborn John as in T1 - The shape shifting T1000 this time is the pursuer and the next two hours is spent as a full on action packed adrenaline rush which has to be one of the best action movies ever, and certainly the best of the 90's. Many a memorable scenes, the special effects are incredible, beyond belief considering the age of the movie combining first rate stunts, explosive battles and enough fun to shake a stick at.

Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor does a fantastic job in a highly impressive performance, a young Edward Furlong is equally impressive as John and of course, let's not forget Arnold - first rate acting, direction and script adds up to a first rate movie.
T2 always drives forward to a thrilling conclusion (well until T3 came about!) and any lover of action movies - any movie for that matter - has to watch this film, probably after watching the equally fantastic (but with a smaller budget) Terminator. T2 sweeps you up and pulls you into what's happening. It has humour to ease the tension, classic Arnie one-liners, great cinematography, top notch action sequences and scenes that will stay with you long after watching. If you haven't seen this, you truly should. It is unmissable.

The best sequel ever? T2 certainly has a shout at that accolade.

This DVD has some kind of crazy DRM going on, so do NOT buy it if you are planning to watch it on a computer. It simply will not play. You CAN however still access the disk to rip it and put online, which I am inclined to do.

Good job momentum pictures, the only thing your DRM has stopped me doing is the only legitimate thing I could do with it. You only have yourselves to blame for piracy

While this movie does indeed work on a pal PS3 and is actually the best version of the movie quality-wise, it's only the theatrical version of the movie! So no extra T-1000 scenes that are in the T-1000 edition and DVD release.

Excellent value for money, this movie very nearly has it all, mesmerizing effects, which even today look better than most blockbusters, compelling story with tremendous characters and action that while allowing a story to develop drives the movie on. The story picks up some ten years after the events of film 1, John Connor is now a ten year old boy, his mother is out of the picture in a mental hospital, and a second far more sophisticated Terminator the "T1000" has been sent back in time to assassinate John. However another Terminator (the same design as the villain in Terminator1) has been sent back to protect John. The story is up and running (quite literally) from the very start with the best opening credits this viewer has ever seen, we are also given an all to brief glimpse of the extraordinary post-apocalyptic future where man and machine wage war against one another. But this movie is packed with some unbelievably well done action scenes, the chase scene early on, the mesmerizing mental hospital sequence and the final half hour-45 minutes are in a word explosive. But the action is so well choreographed and is weaved around the story so brilliantly it never gets brainless or repetitive. Made with a budget around 16-17 times that of its predecessor Terminator 2 manages to include MOST of the elements I loved in film one while maintaining a story in itself, along with some tremendous visuals. One of the great things I really like with James Cameron movies is no matter how grand or spectacular the subject he always maintains great realism, whether what is happening is possible or not, isn't questioned, every detail is done with such painstaking care and effort that you really believe what is happening on screen. Everything in this film from the minor characters like Dr. Silberman (who even manages to add a little something),to the more sophisticated seemingly indestructible new killing machine all combine flawlessly and while the effects are jaw drooping and the stakes astronomically high the human element of the film is never forgotten with a strong performance from Hamilton and an impressive debut from Eddie Furlong this film has a great story with enough flair to satisfy the biggest effect/sci fi fan, but a story grand enough and intriguing that should satisfy the most serious film buff. The bonus features are quite impressive as well, three decent length documentaries cover everything from casting Edward Furlong, Screenwriting, special effects, make-up, score with contribution s from cast members, Stan Winston, make-up guys, the composer and many more. Surprisingly the behind the scenes for the making of Terminator 2 3D is rather interesting look into the making of universals 3D ride which acts as a continuation of T2 with contributions from universal executives James Cameron, Stan Winston, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Patrick. There are some excellent Deleted scenes featuring Cameron telling us why they were cut out (these are re-inserted into the film in disc one but there is no option to view the theatrical cut). There is also more behind the scenes stuff in various mini documentaries contained in the mammoth Cyberdine hub which also contains, if I am not mistaken the script for T2, over 3000 still images and plenty I have not even had a chance to look at. In my local HMV this costs 45.00, Amazon have it for under 5.00(around 8 or 9 Euros). So, you have a great movie, colossal bonus material(even the interactive menus are worth watching) all for what 5.00, if you like the Terminator movies then buy this immediately, trust me, its worth every penny.
