Dear Ladies - At last on DVD June 16, 2008

I was thrilled to learn the first season was to be released on DVD, the talents of the late Patrick Fyffe and George Logan have entertained me for years. I have quite a few of their radio series "The Random Jottings of Hinge and Bracket" on audio cassette and every time they appeared at my local theatre, I made sure I got tickets before the sold out signs went up. I remember watching the series when they were first shown on tv but in those days never had a video recorder and for some unknown reason they were never shown on cable or satellite tv. I was lucky to meet both Patrick and George in the theatre bar one night and although they were out of costume, they signed my autograph book Dame Hilda Bracket & Dr Evadne Hinge. Their timing and delivery of dialogue was fantastic, I always smile especially when Hilda breathes on her glasses to clean them with a deep "hrrrrr" sound, and look out for the episode on the DVD where she is cleaning the trophies. Excellent comedy although over 20 years old never ages and will be enjoyed for many years. Come on BBC release the other series for all the H&B fans.

An underated comedy classic. Off the wall, often odd - yet deeply comfortable, Hinge and Bracket are the perfect comedy duo. Their lives in Stackton Tresel are at the same time familiar and cringingly awkward! Many many laugh out loud moments.
They're not wrinkles - they're laughter lines.
Nothing's that funny...
Double entendres all over the place, but with charm and a tongue firmly in cheek. The energy of Dame Hilda contrast perfectly with cool Dr Hinge. This took me right back to my teenage years - I was starting to think I was the only person ever to catch it in the 80's. I agree with a prevous reviewer... Watch this and the world becomes a gentler place, full of humour around every corner. Get it!

You'd never realise that these recordings were done over 20 years ago . George Logan and Patrick Fyffe are just amazing . There's not much singing on this disc but there are plenty of chuckles along the way , amongst the 6 episodes are Hilda stuck in a lift and my favourite Evadnes birthday . The extras include an interview with George Logan in which he gives an incite into what it was like playing Dr Evadne and a little incite into Patrick Fyffe who sadly died in 2002 .
I thoroughly recommend anything with Hinge and Bracket something the whole family can watch and that makes a change these days.

It just arrived in the mail and I have been reminded of how wonderful Hinge and Bracket were, their timing was impecable and their humour elegant and classy....and their singing voices fantastic.

I got this for Christmas, and I really enjoyed watching it. I'd forgotten how funny they had been. Well worth watching.
