5 out of 5 stars Forever Amber- The book!   October 10, 2005
Forever Amber is a passionate and lust filled tale of a young girl who ascends slowly through the ranks of King Charles II's court. However, the one man Amber truly loves can never see beyond her peasant birth and continually breaks her heart through out the epic novel. The book is agonising for the reader as we know who really Amber is, but are forced to face what she will forever be to her society. Compulsive page turner!

4 out of 5 stars forever amber   June 25, 2005
I had searched high and low for this film and book, as i named my daughter Amber after it. As it was apparently my nans favourite, as she died some years before my daughter was born, i decided to name my daughter Amber..... so therefor had to find out more about this film/ book. Having read and watched the film I am not so sure it was very apt but love the name anyway. And also love the film and the book. Thanks nan. And also a great big thanks to Amazon for helping me find it.

5 out of 5 stars Forever Amber (VHS video)   April 27, 2005
This is the classic story of Amber the country girl who falls in love with Bruce Carlton, a handsome cavalier of King charles, and her ruthless climb to Duchess status in order to secure his love and eluding marraige to her. A gripping historical romance that takes us through the colourful London life of the Royal court as well as the Great Plague and Fire of London. I felt that I had to watch this video after reading the 2 volume book to satisfy my curiosity of the beautiful Amber and handsome Bruce and their exiting story. I was not disappointed. With or without the books this is one for the true historical romantics.

Filmed in the dramatic style of the age of the silver screen with lavish costumes, scenery and ambiences, beautiful actors and mega-dramatic acting, this film is certainly worth watching, but I feel it is nowhere near as in-depth as the novel, and therefore could disappoint devotees of the book.
