4 out of 5 stars Great   October 20, 2007
This was a phenomenal season of racing. Jacques Villeneuve won the championship at only his second try after surviving an attempt by Schumacher to take him out of the race.

World Champion Damon Hill had a terrible year in the uncompetitive Arrows, save for a dominant drive in Hungary where lost a certain victory thanks to gearbox problems. He finished second. Sixth place in Britain was his only other top six result.

This also marked McLaren's comeback to being a race winning team. David Coulthard had a good season, taking two victories in Australia and Italy. Häkkinen took his first victory thanks to Coulthard giving way, sowing the seeds for Coulthard's eventual subordinate role within the team, despite deserving equal treatment in his own right.

Jordan had a renaissance, getting three podiums and several points finishes this year.

The newly renamed Prost team had a great start to the season until Olivier Panis' leg breaking accident in Canada. Prost GP and Panis never really recovered, the team went bust at the end of the 2001 season and the driver never climbed the podium again.

We also seen the debut of the Stewart GP team. They scored a fantastic podium in Monaco.

The review is longer than most and is the better for it. Not quite at the 1995 standard but good enough. And bloody exciting!

5 out of 5 stars Great season! One of the best seasons ever!   January 26, 2006

The 1997 Formula One World Championship was without doubt fantastic. This was also the season when the pathetic Lola team tried to enter Formula One. the drivers being Italian Vincenso Sospiri and Brazillian Ricardo Rosset. But the team didn't enter F1 at all and the new Stewart team was the last team. But forget that. let's move onto the exciting battle between Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve. This will bring back memories of the fierce battles between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, like the Hill v Schumacher battle in 1994 brought some memories. The season started with a bang when McLaren's David Coulthard won an Australian thriller. Then Villeneuve won but Schumacher started to fight back with a win in torrential rain. But then disaster struck. Gianni Morbidelli. replacing his dropped countryman Nicola Larini at the Sauber team, broke an arm in a testing accident and Olivier Panis broke both of his legs in a massive accident at the Canadian GP that stopped the race. And Gerhard Berger missed three races due to illness and there was more disaster but it was mostly a fantastic season.

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic Season - Rushed Video   February 26, 2004

In what was a classic season of f1, there is no arguing that the video contains some excellent racing, passing and crashes. However unofrtunately its crushed into just 90 minutes, and with some extremely annoying commentary that doesn't actually form full sentances. The more you notice it, the more annoying it gets.
The action on track is 5/5, the parts that hold it together 3/5

5 out of 5 stars Jacques at his best!   March 7, 2003

This fantastic video shows Jacques Villeneuve at his best in formula 1! It highlights all the best moments in the 1997 calendar, which are full of nail-biting moments with all of the top drivers scrapping for the top spot and the ultimate position of world champion. This video is a must have for all formula 1 fans, it's simply enlightening! All i have left to say is that i could watch it over and over again!

4 out of 5 stars Down to the last 30 minutes   November 8, 2000

This is reveting stuff! Formula 1 at its best. Watch, entrhalled, as Jacque Villeneuve battles it out with Michael Schumacher for championship glory. Excellent coverage of all 16 races, with race commentary, news and snippets of what was hot, and what was not at each race. The championship went down to the wire, with Schumacher needing to beat Villeneuve in order to win Ferrari's first drivers crown in 19 years. Did Schuey win? Well watch the video to find out of the result of this controversial last race of the 1997 season!
