4 out of 5 stars great and thats that!   December 3, 2007
wrestlemania 15,the year 1999,live from Philadelphia,6 titles up for grabs in what was a great event let down by one or two matches but essentially a wrestemania great,if we all wear our honesty hats then we know that wrestlemania by that very term means it will be good and this is no exception.
The opening match kicked in with a bang, the now defunct hardcorfe title, meaning no rules folks, pitted the champ billy gunn againts hardcore holly and al snow. The match was fast as one would expect and certainly ruthless, this match didnt last long but the nature of it dictated it wouldnt,in the end the outcome was good and the three wrestlers could walk out with their pride intact.
The tag team title was up for grabs next, the holders owen hart and jeff jarrett fough d-lo brown and test, this match was short but it was clear that owen hart (rip) and jarrett were alot better than their rivals, test never impressed me much and he didnt do anything to change my mind here either, the champs were just great in what we saw here and this team should have went on to become legends but they didnt for various reasons.
A brawl for all match followed,a strange title for a match when it featured two men in a boxing match, wwe star at the time bart gunn against real life super heavyweight boxer butterbean, the match lasted 35 seconds or something like that so the hype wasnt really justified but this was real folks, make no mistakes on that one ,when you see the killer punch you will cower, decent enough then.
The next match was a bit futile, the winner would get chance to be guest referee in the title match between the rock and stone cold, this match pitted mankind against the big show of the corporation,it wsnt great,a little clumsy and stale in parts, the aftermath of the match was more exciting in truth and certainly that made up for it so my complaint ends now.
A fatal fourway match followed for the intercontiental championship followed, meaning that three men had to be eliminated for a winner to be called, the champ road dogg who was a star at the time, went up against goldust, ken shamrock and val venis. This match was good, plenty of individual battles and plenty to keep one interested, this was more like it and a good end to the match, little in the way of compromise,a well worked match.
kane and triple h were up next, this was a good match again with a twist at the end, this is one point that needs to be addressed, this wrestlemania dn its build up in particular was very focused on storyline, the event was packed with it,like a movie almost, this isnt a complaint, just a guideline, its hard to think of a year that had as many twists and turns in storyline that this but all do their job well, the match itself ends good and someone returns back to where they belong here.
next up was the standard womens title match, the holder sable against tori, not great, some good moves, the sable move was always well executed, noted for bringing nicole bass to the wwe for her stint there, she was a female bodybuilder with a mans head if im honest but a new story would follow her arrival, scary looking woman.
shane mcmahon then went up against x pac in defence of mcmahons european championship, this match was filled with sabotage and betrayal and also quality, shane is a fine athlete regardless of what others say,not the most natural looking wrestler by any means but he has talent and the contest is packed with action and near misses and the end may come as a shock for some.
Now,the following match was a bit poor and there havent been too many bad hell in a cell contests, and yes the undertaker does feature,he was at his most evil and twisted in this era and it was up to the big boss man to teach him some manners,in the end this wasnt that great,a few things looked poor,a mistake happened with handcuffs,i dont think that was planned, and the crowd lost interest, the end image is shocking, thats for sure but certainly this was poor enough and perhaps too much was given to the boss man who looked lost here aty times but the undertaker doesnt get off with some criticism,he too was average here.
The main event followed and deserves the praise of the night, what a contest, what entertainment,it had it all, atttitude, fans baying for one man then the next, classic moves, near falls, interference,it was so jam packed that my mind is ready to explode,a cracker ,so good that i watched it again once i finished it,and the outcome was spine tingling, well done to both men.

A few good matches. A great main event event. A bit of advise. Buy WrestleMania 16, 17 or 19 instead

3 out of 5 stars good but not great   November 29, 2004

wrestlemania 15 is a good solid video but it lacks a real
killer match. the main event between austin and rock is the only good match the rest are a bit boring and are all build up. the hell and the cell match between bossman and undertaker was short and pointless there was no need for a five minute hell in the cell match and nothing shocking happened. all the way thourgh the match people were shouting "boring".the kane vs hhh match was ok but it had a good twist at the end. hardcore fans will still buy this video but if you are not one buy other wrestlemania video.

5 out of 5 stars 6 titles on the line, it's Wrestlemania!   June 21, 2004

Wrestlemania 15 came live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and didn't come up short when it came to good matches.

1: Triple Threat Match for the WWF Hardcore Championship
Badd Ass Billy Gunn (Champion) VS. Al Snow VS. Hardcore Holly
A good opening match. Plenty of weapons used including HEAD! 8/10

2: WWF Tag Team Championships
Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart (Champions) VS. D'Lo Brown and Test
Good match considering that D'Lo Brown and Test aren't regular tag team partners. 8/10

3: Brawl For All
Butterbean VS. Bart Gunn
Difficult to judge, as the knockout was quite quick. 7/10

4: Winner gets to be the referee for the main event
Big Show Paul Wight VS. Mankind
This match didn't last too long. Ending was good. 8/10

5: Four Corners Match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship
Road Dogg (Champion) VS. Val Venis VS. Ken Shamrock VS. Goldust
Good mid-card match. Only two people in the ring at once, instead of all four. 8/10

6: Kane VS. Triple H
Not a bad match between these two. Has a SURPRISE ENDING. 7.5/10

7: WWF Women's Championship
Sable (Champion) VS. Tori
Typical women's match. 6/10

8: WWF European Championship
Shane McMahon (Champion) VS. X-Pac
Lots of corporate interference. X-Pac is attacked before he even gets to the ring. 8/10

9: Hell In A Cell Match
The Undertaker VS. Big Boss Man
Not QUITE as brutal as the previous HIAC's. Okay, it was pretty bad. There were even some 'boring' chants. 6/10

10: No D.Q. Match for the WWF Championship
The Rock (Champion) VS. Stone Cold Steve Austin
A great Wrestlemania main event. The first of three Rock/Austin encounters to take place at Wrestlemania. 9.5/10

4 out of 5 stars A good 'Mania, however a couple of sore points   June 30, 2002
6 out of 7 found this review helpful

Hardcore Title - Billy Gunn vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Al Snow - Fun opener, nothing too great, however it wasn't abysmal - **1/2

Big Show vs. Mankind - Terrible match, the second * is for Foley's chair bumps at the end, and the confrontation between Show/McMahon, reminiscent of Andre/Heenan at WMVI - **

Tag Titles - Owen Hart/Jeff Jarret vs. D'Lo Brown/Test - A good match, maybe could have been better if D'Lo and Test hadn't wrestled earlier in the night, the Ivory/PMS angle on the outside was a welcome distraction to make the match more interesting - **1/2

Hell in a Cell - Undertaker vs. Big Boss Man - Terrible match, the second biggest sore point of the event - DUD

Brawl For All - Butterbean vs. Bart Gunn - Yes, the biggest sore point of the event - DUD

Triple H vs. Kane - One of the matches of the night, the Chyna/HHH re-union was a pleasant surprise as well - ***1/2

Intercontinental Title Match - Goldust vs. Road Dogg vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Val Venis - Not much heat, but not a bad match - **1/2

Women's Title - Sable vs. Tori - The usual women's match - *

European Title - Shane McMahon vs. X-Pac - Match of the night, the DVD is worth buying just for this contest - ****

World Title - The Rock vs. Steve Austin - Fantastic match, full of action, the two biggest stars in the game go head to head for their first WM main event, not a foot wrong here - ****

Special Features - Not bad, the vignettes and alternative commentaries of the main event are the most notable - ***

Overall, apart from Triple H/Kane, Shane/X-Pac, Austin/Rock, this is just another event, but those three matches make this a WrestleMania, definately worth the money.
