Amazon.co.uk Review
Hours of fun for F1 addicts, this official Formula One 2000 World Championship Review has neat interactive menu options that let the viewer switch back and forth between a number of perspectives during each race. First select the race you want to see, then choose either the "Continuous Version" or the "Interactive Version". Continuous play runs potted highlights (five minutes or so) of each race, but the "Interactive Version" is the really interesting bit: this lets you select the view from the on-board cameras or the trackside cameras, watch the reactions in the pit lane, or even see continually updated race data statistics. The stilted commentary hardly matches Murray Walker for excitement, but does a serviceable job pointing out the significant moments in each race. Gimmicks aside, this was a vintage F1 season anyway: from Australia to waterlogged Silverstone to the first American F1 race since 1991 at Indianapolis and beyond, 2000 was the year that Michael Schumacher gave Ferrari the Constructor's Championship for the first time in 20 years, not to mention winning the Driver's title for himself. But Schuey's race to the finish was not without its setbacks: he suffered his share of crashes and breakdowns, as well as inadvertently breaking the leg of one of his pit crew and bursting into tears at a post-race press conference. New British talent emerged with Jensen Button driving in his first season for the Williams team, and this was also the year that McLaren's David Coulthard (who survived a plane crash early in the season) began to outstrip team mate and former World Champion Mika Hakkinen: it was the Scot who turned out to be Schumacher's closest rival. This disc is an absorbing way to replay the highlights of a memorable F1 year. --Mark Walker

4 out of 5 stars It's a good first attempt.   January 22, 2002

I disagree from the review from the guy in Bath, I don't know what DVD he was watching but there were pre-race builds up for all the races.

I liked the on board camera shots, switching to pit lanes. The different shots for Hakkinen's overtaking on Schumacher.
The picture quantity is great. How ever there's room for improvement (hence fours stars).
1. If you get Murry Walker to commentate, I sure sales would triple. hint for 2001
2. It would great if we could a complete lap with the on board camera.
Other than that I thought this is great DVD, for any F1 fan.

5 out of 5 stars Technology to match F1   June 27, 2001

I had never contemplated buying a F1 season video before but was lured into buying this with the prospect of on-board camera views and the fact that it was over 4 hours long where the video versions of these reviews are less than half this.

The interactive element on this disk is confusing at first and it makes you just want to watch each view one at a time but it is very cool if you persevere. Each race has around 16 chapters and it shows you which of the views are available for each; "Show" (which is normal TV coverage), "Track" (trackside cameras), "On Board" (the picture never breaks up), "Pits" and "Data". There are usually at least 3 for each one. While watching from your chosen chapter you can use your remote to scroll through the other views available at the top of the screen. Only snippets of these other views are part of the normal "Show" so you do get extra race footage rather than them just being separated.

What the packaging fails to point-out is that if you watch each race separately in each view (not a tedious task), the playing time is well over 9 hours!

Definitely recommended even though the commentator sounds like Ed Winchester from the Fast Show!

1 out of 5 stars Must do better next year   June 25, 2001

Not good at all. Data screens incomprehensible, no commentary for on-board shots, pits or track. Five minutes of actual review per grand prix. Interactive option very disjointed and no pre-race build up at all. Nice idea, but DVD deserves to be so much better than this.

5 out of 5 stars After 21 years the title goes back to Italy.   June 10, 2001

This is the review of the 2000 season, where Michael Schumacher showed his supremacy over the competition. From Australia to Malaysia this shows extended highlights of all 17 rounds. Coulthard and Hakkinens' extraordinary overtaking manouveres. At 4 hours, if you love Formula One then this event of the first ever Season Review DVD from Duke after years of excellent videos, is for you.
